When it comes to application infrastructure, some of the burning questions that organizations are asking themselves include:
If I host some of my application functionality in the could, how do I integrate that with my existing on-premises applications?
How do I integrate my on-premises application with external business partners?
Everyone is talking about platform as a service (PaaS). Should I use it? If so, when and when not?
In this research, we address these questions by introducing the concept of iPaaS, a specific form of PaaS targeting integration and governance requirements, and how it can be used to address cloud-to-on-premises and other related requirements.

This paper summarizes and evaluates the prevalence and efficacy of data center virtualization deployments, as well as the hardware that supports them. The conclusions drawn from this report are based on analysis of both quantitative market research and two qualitative interviews with a CIO and CTO in healthcare and finance, respectively. Each customer, referred to ESG by Hewlett-Packard (HP), had extensive experience deploying both server and desktop virtualization. The goal of the study was to determine the IT and business drivers to adoption of virtual technologies, the expected and realized benefits, ensuing infrastructure decisions, future outlook of the data center, and best practices for deployment.

The workplace is changing rapidly to accommodate mobile and flexible work styles, as employees expect the same computing experience when working remotely as they get in the office. And those expectations are rising rapidly among all employees — not just in the executive hallways or engineering labs. To discover more about mobile work styles and client virtualization trends in today’s enterprises, Citrix Systems and HP commissioned Forrester Consulting to survey IT decision-makers in North America, Europe, and Asia for this Technology Adoption Profile (TAP). Coupled with Forrester’s existing Forrsights data, we found that IT is turning to client virtualization to manage the growing complexity that BYOD programs and mobility initiatives have created and is embracing end-to-end solutions to overcome the toughest client virtualization challenges concerning cost, performance, scalability, and security.

The explosion in IT demand has intensified pressure on data center resources, making it difficult to respond to business needs, especially while budgets remain flat. As capacity demands become increasingly unpredictable, calculating the future needs of the data center becomes ever more difficult. The challenge is to build a data center that will be functional, highly efficient and cost-effective to operate over its 10-to-20-year lifespan. Facilities that succeed are focusing on optimization, flexibility and planning infusing agility through a modular data center design.

One of the simplest, most effective ways to bring healthcare to the community level is through video collaboration. When video technology is enabled through a standards-based, scalable platform, community members can all join a multipoint video call to collaborate and work together with professionals and even with groups of similarly afflicted, empathetic peers to address health issues. Patients benefit from more regular evaluations and better access to specialty support. They participate in live or recorded education sessions—regardless of location or ability to travel. And with today’s move to ubiquitous video, you cannot only do one-to-one video sessions, but groups can meet over video to share ideas and best practices.

Video conferencing is an increasingly important technology to improve employee and partner collaboration, especially for increasingly virtual organizations supporting rising numbers of mobile and home workers. But many companies still struggle to justify their investments in video conferencing, and not to understand potential cost differences among competing solutions - not just hardware and software expenses, but also investments required for bandwidth and operational support. Comparing various video conferencing solutions requires examining deployment models, licensing arrangements, network, hardware, and operational costs for leading video conferencing solution vendors in a variety of scenarios, using real-world data gathered from actual buyers of video conferencing products and services. The result: Significant differences in costs across all areas, especially for varying deployment models.
